Peards Albury Landscape Supplies
In Australia there are areas where local conditions create an increased likelihood of erosion. Special consideration should be given to material selection and design in these areas. Gabion cages are a great option as they are reaonably priced, look great and provide effective erosion control.
Gabion cages are made from steel wire mesh laced together and filled with rocks to create different kinds of structures.
Most gabion walls can be built without a concrete foundation, however some supported walls and special engineer designed walls may require a concrete foundation.
Angular rock is the best gabion fill as it provides a good interlock and therefore less deformation of the face occurs. When using rounded river rock as gabion fill, it is recommended that you use the heavier gabion baskets, which are less likely to deform under load.
Three optional filling materials, river rock, gabion rock or ballast gabion.
Please Note: Cage sizes are an approximation.
